The collection includes quite a list: fiddle, guitar, various types of banjo, mandolin, historical flutes, fife, concertina, mountain dulcimer, tin whistle, recorder, bodhran, regimental drum, bones, tambourine, harmonica, jaw harp, jaw bone, Native American flute, and voice.

Al makes selected traditional instruments and uses some of his own instruments in his programs.
